Tencel | Sustainable Wood Pulp 🌲

What is is?

From forest to fashion, Tencel® is a brand of lyocell, a fibre made from wood pulp. It is extracted from FSC certified sustainably grown forests and processed using a unique closed loop system which recovers and reuses >99% of the solvents and water, minimizing the environmental impact of production. It has fantastic physical properties and a highly sustainable profile.

Why do we use it?

The company that produces Tencel, Lenzing Fibers of Austria, pride themselves on their environmental credentials. They have received multiple awards including a European Award for the Environment relating to their Tencel production process. Tencel requires up to 20 times less water and 5 times less land to produce than cotton, while its closed loop production process avoids many of the pitfalls associated with the processing of other materials.

We love that Tencel is a luxury fibre that provides superior performance in our products while also having minimal environmental impact. We continue to explore other sustainable lining materials to complement Tencel, however we will never use virgin cotton, organic or otherwise, in any of our products due to its high water use, negative environmental impact and significant ethical concerns.

We currently use 100% Tencel for the lining for our primary products.
